Men's Soccer Entertains Loras College In Exhibition Tilt

The No. 14 Bulldogs host Loras College this evening (Aug. 25) in the first of three men's soccer exhibition games before Drake's season opener at Michigan on Sept. 3
 
SCOUTING THE DUHAWKS
After three straight 20-win seasons, four consecutive Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles, and five consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III Championships, Loras comes into play this evening ranked No. 7 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's National Division III poll.  Senior Miguel Bonilla paced the Loras squad in 2009 in goals (19), points (44) and game-winners (8), while ranking second  in shots (82) and shots on goal (40).  Senior Dan Wickman and junior Adam Kelsch split time in net for the Duhawks a year ago and responded by recording 28 and 44 saves, respectively.

SERIES HISTORY
Drake has met Loras only once in the regular season with the Bulldogs earning a 6-1 victory over the Duhawks at the Dordt College Invitational in 1986.

THE COACHES
Loras: Dan Rothert
is in his 13th campaign leading the Duhawks and maintains a 181-72-13 record (.705).
Drake: In his 13th season on the Drake sidelines as head coach is Sean Holmes, who owns a 103-102-24 mark (.502), including 181-128-26 (.579) overall, in his 18th year as a head coach.

UP NEXT
Drake closes out its exhibition campaign with tests at UMKC and Coe College on Friday (Aug. 27) and Sunday (Aug. 29).  Game time versus the Kangaroos is slated for 7:00 p.m., while the match with Kohawks starts at 3:00 p.m.
