AMES, Iowa - The Drake women's track and field team, in its first meet of the season, turned in a strong effort at the Iowa State Holiday Preview on Friday (Dec. 9).

The Bulldogs had three of the top-10 finishers in the 60-meter hurdles as the junior trio of Marissa Smith (Ajax, Ontario), Sarah Yeager (Ottumwa, Iowa) and Briana Isom-Brummer (St. Louis, Mo.) were third, seventh and ninth, respectively. Smith had a time of 8.85, while Yeager ran 9.17 and Isom-Brummer finished in 9.26.

The Drake "A" 4x300 meter relay team of Smith, junior Whitney Westrum (Waukee, Iowa), Isom-Brummer and Yeager earned a fourth-place showing clocking in at 2:47.37

Isom-Brummer also was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 3.75 inches.

Drake will have a month off before their next meet on Jan. 14, when the Bulldogs travel to Vermillion, S.D. to partake in the Graphic Edge Meet.
