WHAT'S AHEAD: The Drake women's track and field team will travel north to Ames, Iowa to partake in the ISU Classic at the Lied Recreation Center. The meet kicks off on Thursday (Feb. 10) with the women's pentathlon at 12:30 p.m. Action on Friday (Feb.11) begins noon with the women's weight throw, Saturday's (Feb. 12) starts at 9 a.m. with the women's non-seeded mile.
LAST TIME OUT: Senior Ari Curtis (Fort Collins, Colo.) won the 800-meter race with a personal-best time of 2:14.87 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational to highlight action during the two day meet Feb. 4 and 5.
Senior Casey McDermott (Newton, Iowa) finished fourth in the mile special clocking in at 4:54.26, a new personal best.
Senior Beth Hamling (Council Bluffs, Iowa) won the consolation round of the 400-meter dash finishing in 56.66. Hamling also placed second in the 200-meter dash consolation round running a time of 25.33, her fastest time of the year.
Sophomore Marissa Smith (Ajax, Ontario) won the 60-meter hurdle consolation heat with a time of 8.71, also a personal best.
Senior Kara McCartney (Elgin, Iowa) was ninth in the 600-yard race running a time of 1:25.64.
Senior Tyse Samani (Kansas City, Mo.) leapt 5 feet 5 inches to place 11th in the high jump.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Sarah Yaeger (Ottumwa, Iowa), Curtis, Hamling and Clarissa LaFlora (Kewanee, Ill.) registered a second-place finish completing the relay in 3:52.25.
Senior Cambria Pardner (Aurora, Colo.) was 20th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.95, freshman Tiara Winston (Denton, Texas) two places behind in 7.98.
Senior Johanna Sprang (New Brighton, Minn.) registered a 15th place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet 6.5 inches.
UP NEXT: Drake will travel to Iowa City, Iowa next Friday (Feb. 18) to compete in the Iowa Invitational. The meet marks the last meet for the Bulldogs before the State Farm MVC Indoor Track And Field Championship.
