SAINT LOUIS, MO. - Playing outdoors for the first time
in its spring campaign, the Drake men's tennis team posted its
third-consecutive win with a 4-0 victory at Saint Louis on Saturday (March 12).
The Bulldogs swept
all three doubles contests with sophomore Ryan Drake (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and
freshman Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England) securing the doubles point following the tandem's
8-3 triumph against Nishaad Balachandran and Dave Welkener at the No. 3
position.
The Bulldogs
increased the advantage to 3-0 following wins by Goodman and senior Mauricio Ballivian (Santa
Cruz, Bolivia).
Ballivian downed Joe
Flanagan, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 1, while Goodman bested Patrick Kella at No. 5, 6-2,
6-3.
Garnering the triumph
for Drake on court No. 2 was sophomore James McKie (Edinburgh, Scotland), who defeated
Vuk Poledica, 6-1, 6-3.
The match was halted
after the Bulldogs won the deciding point with Drake leading in the remaining
three contests on courts Nos. 3, 4 and 6.
The Bulldogs return
to action on Monday (March 14) with a 2:00 p.m. contest at UAB
