DeLong Leads Drake To Fifth-Straight Victory

PEORIA, Ill. – Senior Jenna DeLong homered in her third-straight contest and tossed a complete game to lead Drake to a 6-1 Missouri Valley Conference victory over Bradley Sunday at Laura Bradley Park. The win was Drake's fifth-straight and pushed the Bulldogs to 16-11 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Valley.

DeLong (Dalton Gardens, Idaho) was solid in the circle, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out eight for her 10th win of the season. The effort was the senior's fifth-straight complete game victory.

DeLong was aided by 11 Drake hits, including four from junior Torey Craddock (Tucson, Ariz.). Craddock went 4-for-4 on the day, raising her season batting average by 32 points (.301 - .333)

 Senior Molly McClelland (West Des Moines, Iowa) went 2-for-3 and slapped a two-run single down the right-field line to plate Craddock and junior Jaimie Duffek (Brookfield, Ill.) and give Drake a 2-0 lead in the third.

RBI singles by Craddock and sophomore Sam West (Kearney, Mo.), along with a costly Bradley error, led to a three-run Bulldog fourth and a 5-0 Drake lead.

DeLong ceded Bradley's lone run in a rocky fifth inning. Her sixth-inning home run, a solo shot to right center, gave Drake its final tally. The homer was DeLong's team-best seventh of the season.

The Bulldogs close the series with Bradley Monday at 2:30 p.m.
