DES MOINES, Iowa – Taylor Scholl and Angela Ufheil have been named the recipients of the Drake University women's cross country leadership awards, head coach Dan Hostager announced.
Scholl, a sophomore from Prior Lake, Minn., earned the Gary Osborn Leadership Award. She led the team throughout the year and was the Bulldogs' top finisher in five of the six races she participated in. At the MVC Championship, she paced Drake by finishing 28th. The Gary Osborn Leadership Award is given to a team member who most exemplifies Drake cross country excellence, both in performance & in leadership.
Ufheil, a freshman from Lake Zurich, Ill., was tabbed as the team's Karla Burds Leadership award winner. The annual honor is presented to a freshman that is an up-and-coming student-athlete both on the course and in a leadership role. Ufheil ran as the the team's top freshman all season and finished seventh overall amongst MVC classmates at the MVC Championship. Scholl won the award in 2012.
