ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the second consecutive week, a Drake Bulldog has been the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week as freshman Vinny Gillespie (Stirling, Scotland) earned the honor Tuesday, Jan. 26.
 
Gillespie went 4-0 for the week as the team posted a 1-1 record at the ITA Kickoff Event hosted by North Carolina. Gillespie and Bayo Philips earned a 6-2 win against NC State and a 6-3 victory against Indiana at No. 1. Gillespie recorded the only singles victory for the Bulldogs in their 4-2 setback to No. 40 NC State, winning 6-2, 7-6 at No. 3. He finished his weekend with a three-set 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory, securing the 4-2 win for Drake over No. 50 Indiana.
 
Gillespie and the rest of the Bulldogs travel to No. 41 Dartmouth on Saturday before taking on No. 32 Harvard on Sunday.
