The Drake University volleyball team has earned and accepted a postseason berth in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, head coach Darrin McBroom announced Sunday, Nov. 25.
 
The Bulldogs are one of 32 teams in the field and open up postseason competition at Iowa State, Thursday, Nov. 29, at 6:30 p.m.
 
Drake earned a spot in the championship field after advancing to the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament and posting a 21-14 record to date this season to earn the program's second-straight 20-win season. The 20-win season was the seventh in program history.
 
The winner of Thursday's Drake vs. Iowa State contest will face the winner of the Bradley vs. Bowling Green match Friday in Ames, Iowa.
 
The postseason appearance is the second in program history and first since 1995 when the Bulldogs competed in a previous incarnation of the NIVC.
