NORMAL, Ill. – The Drake University men's track & field team continued to record some of the top performances in school history Saturday afternoon at the Illinois State Invitational.
 
The event was the Bulldogs' final competition before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in two weeks. The women competed at the same event Friday afternoon.
 
David Olowookere led the Bulldogs' efforts in winning the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.95. That performance ranks fifth in Drake history and is nearly two seconds faster than his previous best set at last week's Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom.
 
Ryan Schweizer also continued to shave time off his personal best in the 800 meters as he finished second in 1:50.13, a time that ranks sixth all-time at Drake.
 
Schweizer's performance was one of six top-three finishes by the Bulldogs that included newcomer Gal Arad winning the 100 meters in 10.32. Arad's time would be the third-fastest in program history, however, he and the field were aided by a stout tailwind of more than five meters per second. Victor Peka finished fifth in 10.69.
 
The throws also recorded top-3 performance with Adam Kessler taking third in the shot put and Joey Harkins third in the hammer throw. Ethan Marshall also had a personal best toss of 156-4 (47.66m) that placed him sixth all-time in Drake history in the hammer throw.
 
The Bulldogs return to action in two weeks for the annual MVC Championship.
