AMES, Iowa – The Drake University track & field team got off to a fantastic start at the Iowa State Classic on Friday (Feb. 11) inside the Lied Recreation Athletic Center.

Blake Boldon said. "On the track and in the field, we have seen success all season long for both the men and women. This group is rewriting our record books and there is more to come."
Gal Arad won the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.23 that broke the Israel national indoor 200 meter dash record. The previous record was set in 1998 at the European Indoor Championships. The time of 21.23 ranks as the best indoor 200 meter dash time in the Missouri Valley Conference so far this season.
In the women's 200 meter dash,
Kayvon Stubbs (25.04) took third with
Busiwa Asinga right behind in fourth place (25.15) and
Briandrias Rhodes finished in 25.22 seconds to finish sixth.
Adam Fogg placed third in the men's 3000 meter run with a PR time of 7:51.01, which shattered the Drake program indoor record by 13 seconds and currently ranks 16
th in the NCAA this season. Aziz JDay ran a time of 8:09.98 in the 3000 meters to move into fifth all-time in indoor program history.
Jaymie O'Connor (third, 8.64) and
Maria Patron (seventh, 9.05) both competed in the women's 60 meter hurdles.
Brooke Mullins is now fifth all-time in the Drake indoor 5000 meter run record book after turning in a time of 16:52.24.
Jack Zettl registered a PR in the men's 5000 meter run with a time of 14:42.62 that helped him into ninth all-time in school history.
In the men's weight throw,
Joey Harkins (19.93 meters),
Adam Phillips (19.62 meters) and
Anthony Barmes (19.24) all surpassed 19 meters to all land spots in the Drake indoor record book top-5.
The Iowa State Classic will conclude Saturday (Feb. 12).
