DES MOINES, Iowa -- Drake University rowing head coach
Charlie DiSilvestro announced the addition of Megan Hinkle to his staff as the second assistant coach on Tuesday, June 14.
Hinkle joins the Bulldogs after spending the 2022 spring season as an assistant on the Sacred Heart University staff, where she primarily guided the four boats for the Pioneers.
"I'm very excited to have Megan join our staff this fall," DiSilvestro said. "I was able to see her work with the Sacred Heart team at the MAAC Championships, where she impressed me very much. I have a lot of respect for her college coach Mark Rothstein, so I'm very excited to have one of his rowers working with us."
Prior to Sacred Heart, Hinkle was a standout at the University of Michigan from 2017-2021. She was an NCAA Bronze Medalist in 2019 while in the third seat of the 2V8. Hinkle was also a two-time Big Ten Champion (2021, 3V4; 2019, 2V8).
"I'm excited to join Drake rowing," Hinkle said. "I'm looking forward to getting to know the team while continuing to learn to become a better coach."
The Troy, Ohio native made an instant impact for Michigan helping the Wolverines to a fourth place finish at the NCAA Championships in the 2V8. Hinkle was selected as a member of the United States U23 team in 2018.
