Women's Golf Just Outside of Top-5 After Day One

Drake women's golf is in the hunt following one day at the Loyola Parkinson Invitational.

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. -- The Drake women's golf team is sitting near the Top-5 in the team standings of the Loyola Parkinson Invitational at the Merit Club (Par 72 | 6,041 yards) after the first two rounds on Monday, Oct. 9. The Bulldogs (315-322--637) are currently in sixth place of 12 teams following day one.

Julie Huggins (84-75--159) improved her first round score by nine strokes in the second round to settle into a tie for 29th place. Huggins was one of two players on the day to record an eagle. Amber Henson (77-83--160) and Aayushi Sarkar (82-78--160) are both tied for 32nd. Erika Holmberg (77-86--163) was next to score while Rylee Heryford (79-86--165) completed Drake's lineup. Kate Connolly (92-83--175) competed as an individual. 

The final round will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 8:30 a.m.
