MCALLEN, Texas -- Drake women's golf picked up the spring season at McAllen Country Club (par 71 | 5,951 yards) in the UTRGV Invitational with two rounds on Monday (March 6). 

The Bulldogs (299-310-609) are sixth out of 14 teams through the first two rounds. Freshman Rylee Heryford (73-76-149) is tied for 15th place following day one. 

Kristen Giles (70-82-152) fired a 70 to be in the top-10 after the first round and is now tied for 24th. Aayushi Sarkar (77-79-156), Amber Henson (79-79-158) and Abby Marting (82-76-158) rounded out the Drake lineup. 

Houston Christian (282-285-567) leads host UTRGV (290-289-579) by 12 strokes heading into day two. 

The final 18-hole round will tee off on Tuesday (March 7) will begin at 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start.
