Isaac Basten will represent Drake track & field and the Missouri Valley Conference at the NCAA indoor track & field championships March 10-11.
Basten, the MVC men's mile record holder will compete on Friday in the men's mile prelim at 8 p.m. (CT). The senior set the MVC mile record of 3:54.89 at the 2023 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invite on Feb. 10.
He has claimed seven MVC titles at the MVC Indoor Championships after earning gold in the distance medley relay and mile. This trip to the national championships will be Basten's fourth to the National stage in track and field with his last indoor Nationals performance earning him fifth with a time of 4:07.72 in 2022. Basten has garnered All-American honors three times in track and field so far.
The top eight finishers advance to the final on Saturday March 11 at 8 p.m. (CT).
