ST. LOUIS -- Drake junior thrower Adam Phillips was recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week after a career performance in the weight throw last week. 

Phillips won the Cyclone Open men's weight throw on Friday, Jan. 19 after a school record toss of 21.61m/70' 10.75". That measurement currently ranks first in MVC and 11th in the NCAA (highest-ever NCAA ranking for a Drake weight thrower). He is also currently the highest nationally-ranked thrower in the MVC. 

The Drake track & field teams are back in action Jan. 26-27 at the Black & Gold Invitational hosted by Iowa.
