ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Two Bulldog throwers stood out among their peers last week and earned league honors because of it.
Centaine Noom-Duckworth and
Anthony Barmes both collected Field Athlete of the Week awards in the respective women's and men's fields.
Noom-Duckworth showed out again as Drake returned to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg Outdoor Classic. She won the hammer throw with a toss of 59.82m/196'-3", marking the second-best series and throw of her career. The New Zealand native is now first in the MVC by two meters. She also ranks eighth in the Midwest Region, 18th on the West Qualifying List, 39th in the NCAA, and seventh on New Zealand's all-time list.

Anthony Barmes proved his mettle over the weekend with another strong showing. He took gold in the hammer at the Wartburg Outdoor Select meet with a throw of 71.07m/233'-2". His throw set a new facility record at the Knights' Walston-Hoover Stadium while also establishing a new best mark in the MVC and Drake track and field history. Barmes ranks first in the MVC by nearly 9.5 meters and sits at fourth in the Midwest Region, eighth on the West Qualifying List, 10th in the NCAA, and fourth on New Zealand's all-time list.
