The Basics
Drake University's rowing team is set to compete in the Lubbers Cup Regatta in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, April 6 beginning at 10 a.m. The regatta features heat races in the morning and final races in the afternoon. Drake will compete against Notre Dame, Dayton, Grand Rapids, Northwestern and Michigan State.
Head Coach Charlie DiSilvestro on the Race
"It'll be nice for us to have a race where we've rested. The first race we had was in spring training and they rode hard, but we were very tired from a week of two-a-days. It'll be nice for us to go out and race when we can train and then get rest."
Coach DiSilvestro on the Team's Preparation
"We haven't been able to get on the water much since spring training. We've been indoors training hard and they've been doing great. We're going to work on pushing hard physically and working on that good technique we built up over spring break."
DeLand Double Duals Recap
The Bulldogs began their Spring season in DeLand, Florida for their Spring training. The team raced two varsity eights and two varsity fours in the DeLand Double Duals. The Bulldogs finished in third place in all of their races. DiSilvestro said the team executed their races well and he was proud of how they performed. The Bulldogs also competed in a tune-up race against Lafayette College Crew Club during their Florida exhibition.
