COLUMBIA, Mo. – After being shortened to a 36-hole competition, the Drake women's golf team wrapped up competition at the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs finished in 12th out of 13 teams with a total score of 620 (312-308) over two days of play.
Julie Huggins was the top finisher in the tournament for Drake carding rounds of 76 and 74 for a 150 total (76-74=150). Huggins ended tied for 18th on the leaderboard and secured her second top-20 finish of the year.
A pair of Bulldogs,
Alexis Reyes and
Erika Holmberg, tied for 33rd at 153 and were the next highest on the leaderboard. Holmberg posted a 78 in the first round and a 75 in the second, while Reyes had flipped scores of 75 in the first round and 78 in the second.
Amber Henson and
Rylee Heryford rounded out the Drake lineup with Henson finishing T66 (83-82=165) and Heryford T72 (88-81=169).
Kate Connolly, who competed as an individual fired a 159 total following rounds of 80 and 79. She finished tied in 54th.
Florida Gulf Coast won the team title at 575 (287-288) and Amelie Alcantara, also from FGCU, claimed individual medal honors at 139 (69-70).
The Bulldogs next tournament will be the Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa. Competition will be held at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa and will take place from Sep. 30-Oct. 1.
