Cincinnati, Ohio — Xavier bested Drake today 6-1 in Cincinnati, however,
Christian Winstead secured an impressive straight-set win on the No. 1 singles court. The Bulldogs are now 3-7 on the year heading into conference play next match.

Ben Johnson and
Will Ecklund continued their strong season in doubles play with a 6-0 win on the top doubles court over Ryan Cahill and Charlie Temming. The Bulldogs battled on the other two doubles courts, but couldn't fight past strong effort from Xavier. The duos of
Jose Alessandro Hernandez and
Adan Tarquino and
Aaron Dawson and
Logan Tomovski lost 6-4.
In singles play,
Christian Winstead delivered a statement win on the top singles court. Winstead defeated his opponent, Cahill, 6-2 and 6-3 to secure a match win. The collective Xavier effort, however, was strong. Four Bulldogs were defeated in straight sets, and Johnson pushed his match to three sets but ultimately lost 7-5, 2-6, 4-6.
The match against Xavier concludes the Bulldogs' stretch of non-conference play, as they'll welcome North Dakota to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Sunday, March 2. Five of Drake's remaining seven opponents are Summit League conference opponents.
