BLANCO, Texas – The Drake women's golf team returned to the course for the beginning of its spring season at the Texas State Invitational and completed play on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs recorded a fifth-place finish firing a team total of 928 (306-307-315).
Drake was in the third place after 36 holes of play on Monday, but a final round of 315 moved the Bulldogs back into fifth. Tournament host Texas State claimed the team title at 899 (310-295-294).
Texas native,
Alexis Reyes, recorded the second top-20 finish of her career and paced the Bulldogs on the leaderboard. Reyes carded a 54-hole total of 230 (79-75-76) to tie for 14th.
Amber Henson also posted a top-20 result tying for 20th after rounds of 77-76-79 for a 232 total.
The remainder of the Bulldogs lineup of
Julie Huggins,
Erika Holmberg, and
Rylee Heryford all finished T-31 with final scores of 237. Huggins recorded the lowest round of the tournament for Drake with a 74 in the first round.
Ellee Seung, who competed as an individual, finished in 58th at (82-90-81).
Oklahoma State's Summer Lee won the individual title after shooting a total score of 214 (71-69-74).
The Bulldogs' next event will be the Rust Buster Match Play, hosted by Murray State from King's Ridge Country Club in Orlando, Fla. The tournament will take place from Feb. 10-11.
