HOLLISTER, Mo. – The Drake women's golf team concluded play at the Ozarks National Invitational after three days of competition on Wednesday afternoon and finished in fourth place among the 13-team field. The Bulldogs ended the event with a total score of 931 (324-297-310).
Drake saw three individuals place inside the top 20 on the leaderboard with
Julie Huggins leading the way. Huggins placed in solo 13th with a total score of 230. The senior bounced back from an opening round 85 with an impressive 70 in the second round to help improve her position. In the final round, Huggins carded a 75. Her second round of 2-under, was the only round under par shot by a Bulldog in the tournament.
The other two Bulldogs inside the top 20 were
Erika Holmberg and
Amber Henson. Holmberg tied for 16th at 232 and Henson finished right behind in solo 20th with a total score of 233. Holmberg carded the second-best round of the event for the Bulldogs with a 73 in the second round.
Rylee Heryford and
Alexis Reyes completed the Drake lineup with the duo each tying for 32nd at 240. Freshman
Alicia Henault competed as an individual and ended the tournament in 77th with a 54-hole total of 269.
South Dakota State won the team title posting a total score of 897. The Jackrabbits also had the top individual in Piper Stubbs at 220 (74-77-69).
Drake will next compete in its final tournament before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at the WIU Intercollegiate, April 4-5.
