LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Drake women's golf team competed in its first tournament of the 2026 Spring season, the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate, and tied for third place following two days of play.
The Bulldogs went on to shoot a total score of 26-over, 878 (288-292-298) and tied with Augusta College. UTEP won the team title with a final team score of 11-over, 863. UT Arlington was the runner-up at 17-over, 869.
Drake had three student-athletes finish inside the top-15 on the leaderboard and was led by
Amber Henson. The senior from Marshalltown, Iowa, recorded a solo fifth place finish in the medalist race after consistent rounds of 71-72-70 for her 213 total.
The other two Bulldogs who earned top-15 finishes were
Kate Connolly and
Julie Huggins as the duo tied for 15th at 220. Connolly fired rounds of 74-71-75 en route to her result, while Huggins started her tournament with a 3-under, 68 and followed with rounds of 74 and 78.
The final other two players in the main Drake lineup were
Rylee Heryford and
Alexis Reyes. Heryford ended her tournament tying for 42nd with a total score of 229 (79-75-75), meanwhile Reyes placed in 82nd with a 259 (75-92-92). The final competitor for Drake was
Erika Holmberg, who participated as an individual, and she tied for 64th at 236 (79-80-77).
UTEP's Amelia Fridlund won the individual title shooting a 3-under, 210 (70-71-69).
Drake's next tournament will be at the Babs Steffens Invitational hosted by Stetson University. The event will take place Feb. 23-24 from the DeBary Country Club in DeBary, Florida.
