Women's Golf Preview: Babs Steffens Invitational

Bulldogs travel to Central Florida for 16-team tournament

The Basics
The Drake women's golf team is back on the course for its second event of the spring season with the Babs Steffens Invitational. The tournament will be held from DeBary Country Club in DeBary, Florida and is hosted by Stetson University. The 16-team field will play 54-holes over two days, Feb. 23-24.

The Field
Appalachian State, Bryant, Drake, Georgia State, Keiser, LeMoyne, Mount Mercy, UNC Asheville, Palm Beach State, Seminole State, Southern Illinois, Southern Utah, Stetson, Troy and West Georgia.

About the Course
DeBary Country Club features a 6,085-yard, par 72 layout. Designed by Lloyd Clifton and frequently selected as a U.S. Open qualifying site, the course is certified by the National Audubon Society as a bird sanctuary.  The course setting is described as more reminiscent of the Carolinas than Central Florida, which is strengthened by the fact that most holes are set away from the community by a buffer zone of dense woods and vegetation and just one water hazard factors into play.
