AMES, IOWA -- Senior Nicole Braunsdorf (St. Francis, Wis.) achieved an NCAA
Provisional qualifying mark after finishing fourth in the 3,000-meter
run to highlight action for the Drake women's track and field team at
the Iowa State Classic Saturday.
Braunsdorf, an all-Missouri Valley Conference performer, ran the second fastest time in school history in the 3,000 being timed in 9 minutes 33.48 seconds. Drake sophomore Casey McDermott (Newton, Iowa) was 16th in 10:00.63
Sophomore Cambria Pardner (Aurora, Colo.) finished 21st in the women's triple jump at. 33-8.5
Freshman Bo Dunn (Harvard, Mass.) was fifth in the non-seeded mile in 5:10.12 Junior Courtney Heinz (St. Paul, Minn.) was 27th in 5:18.79, while sophomore Katie Coomer (Overland Park, Kan.) was 49th in 5:34.26.
Junior Caitlin Able (Aurora, Colo.) was 36th in the women's 400-meter dash in 57.79 seconds. Able also was 48th in the 60-meter dash in 7.99, while Pardner was 64th in 8.19. Freshman Cassie Toepfer (Eagan, Minn.) placed 79th in 8.66.
Drake freshman Erika Sevigny (Olathe, Kan.) was 34th in the women's shot put at 40-9. Freshman Megan Pierce-Cramer (Omaha, Neb.) was 35th at 40-6.75, while junior Diedra Dirth (Apple Valley, Minn.) was 43rd at 36-11.75.
Sophomore Kara McCartney (Elgin, Iowa) was eighth in the women's non-seeded 800-meter run in 2:14.87, while sophomore Clarissa LaFlora (Kewanee, Ill.) was 38th in 2:20.79.
In the unseeded women's 400-meter dash, sophomore Ari Curtis (Fort Collins, Colo.) finished 15th in 59.16, while sophomore Beth Hamling (Council Bluffs, Iowa) was 32nd in 1:00.05.
