DES MOINES, IOWA -- Sophomore
Casey McDermott (Newton, Iowa) set a Drake school record in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase en route to a seventh-place finish in the event at the Drake Relays Saturday.
McDermott, who also achieved an NCAA Regional qualifying mark, was timed in 10 minutes 44.48 seconds to break her previous school mark of 11:02.83 set at the 2008 Missouri Valley Conference championship.

Nicole Braunsdorf (St. Francis, Wis.) was sixth in the university-college 1,500 in 4:31.70.
Drake placed 10th in the sprint medley relay in 4:03 behind sophomore

Able, McCartney, Hamling and Curtis helped Drake post a 3:49.54 clocking in the 4x400 relay.

Michelle Mitchell (Brookfield, Wis.) tied for 13th in the university-college high jump at 5-5.
Curtis started the Drake Relays off by placing 12th in the heptathlon Thursday with 4,593 points.
Sophomore
Meredith Bell (Cedar Rapids Iowa) was 13th in the 10,000 in 38:39.02.
Freshman
Autumn Moore (Quaker City, Ohio) recorded a mark of 112-3 in the hammer throw.
Junior
Deidra Dirth (Apple Valley, Minn.) was 14th in the discus at 144-0.
Freshman
Erika Sevigny (Olathe, Kan.) had a toss of 40-11.5 in the shot put, while freshman teammate
Megan Pierce-Cramer (Omaha, Neb) threw 40-9.
