Fogg Shatters 1,500m School and MVC Record At Drake Relays

The All-American's historic season continues with another shattered record.

DES MOINES -- Adam Fogg submitted his latest historic performance to highlight another strong showing by the Bulldogs on Friday night of the Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom at Drake Stadium.

Fogg, a junior from Brisbane, Australia, earned a second-place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:38.79, shattering the 40-year-old school record by three full seconds. Fogg was edged out at the line by 0.05 seconds despite breaking the previous Drake Relays mark.

Fogg's performance was also the fastest time ever by a Missouri Valley Conference athlete.

Isaac Basten was hot on Fogg's heels, turning in a 3:43.15 performance to set a personal best en route to claiming an eighth-place finish.

Yinka Mary Ajayi blazed her way to third place in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 54.69 -- the second-fastest outdoor time in Drake history.

Busiwa Asinga continued Drake's trend of personal bests with her time of 1:01.04 in the 400-meter hurdles, good for second on the day and the seventh-fastest mark in school history.

Ajayi and Asinga teamed up on the Bulldogs' 4x100 meter relay unit, powering Drake to a third-place finish. Rutendo Mafuta and Keaton Kester joined Ajayi and Asinga as the quartet recorded a time of 46.84, equaling the ninth-best performance in program history.

On the men's side, Cloud Masibhera, Victor Peka, Aobakwe Malau and Gal Arad formed Drake's 4x100 battery. The four Bulldogs submitted their top performance of the year, burning their way to a season-best time of 41.39 to earn seventh place and a spot in Saturday's final race.

Arad and Peka shined individually as well. Arad sprinted a 21.99 in the 200 meter dash to earn fifth place, while Peka clocked in at 22.31 to slot in at sixth place.

David Olowookere represented Drake well in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal-best 52.45 seconds to own a fourth-place finish. Dylan DeAngelo also set a new personal record in the event with a time of 55.40.

Malau and Joseph Kruse posted career marks in the 400 meter dash with times of 48.55 and 49.57, respectively.

By covering 200 meters in 25.14, Keaton Kester earned eighth-place for the Bulldogs. The sprint medley squad of Ellie Mendlik, Joann Nguyen, Briandrias Rhodes and Iris Hertting notched seventh place by finishing in 4:12.19.

In field action, Katelyn Williams crushed her previous personal best in the shot put with a toss of 156-9 (47.78 meters). The feat matches Drake's third-best effort ever in the event.

With a 60-0.5 (18.30 meters) throw by Adam Kessler, Drake staked claim to eighth in the shot put on the men's side. Cloud Masibhera leapt his way to a top-ten finish in the long jump with a distance of 22-5.25 (6.84 meters).

In all, the Bulldogs established two season records, eight career-bests and 15 top-10 finishes.

The Drake Relays conclude Saturday morning. Action on the track and in the field is slated to begin at 8 a.m.
