The Drake track & field program will make the short trip north to Ames for the Cyclone Open hosted by Iowa State on Saturday, Jan. 22.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEKEND'S GRADUATE CLASSIC
The Bulldogs saw improvement from their first meet of the season as several student-athletes notched personal bests.
Savannah Ming (7.92) and
Leah Duncan (7.97) both notched personal bests in the qualifying round of the women's 60 meter dash after bettering their times at the Jimmy Grant Invitational earlier in the season.
Mac Pursell registered a personal record in qualifying for the men's 60 meter dash. In her qualifying round of the women's 60 meter hurdrles,
Maria Patron logged a career best 9.13.
Dyer Jarabek improved upon his previous best time by recording a 50.82 in the men's 400 meter dash.
Adam Fogg took second in the men's 1000 meter run with a time of 2:23.95 that moves him into third place all-time in Drake men's indoor program history and bested his previous personal best of 2:26.65.
Emilie Meyer won the women's 1 mile run with a time of 5:02.72, which is also her best during her freshman campaign.
Barbara Vrhovac was also right there to place third with her own PR of 5:05.75.
Another Drake distance runner was victorious at the Graduate Classic in
Brooke Mullins with her personal best (9:52.27) during the women's 3000 meter run.
In the men's weighted throw,
Joey Harkins launched 19.60 meters, which is his season-best and good enough for third best in indoor program history.
Ethan Marshall (17.42 meters) and
Anthony Barmes (16.65 meters) also landed themselves into the program top-10 for that category.
Chandler Haight notched her name in the Drake indoor shot put top-10 again after 13.60 meters was the fifth longest in the record book.
Adam Phillips settled into seventh all-time in program history for the indoor shot put with his 14.97 meter shot put.
The women's distance medley squad of
Emilie Meyer,
Lindsey Rowatt,
Tyla Lumley,
Barbara Vrhovac placed first with a time of 12:23.57.
