AMES, Iowa – The Drake track & field teams began the 2022-23 indoor season at the Iowa State Holiday Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 10.
"It was a very positive start for us," head coach
Jay Koloseus said. "All areas competed well. I was encouraged by the great support we had from our team members who were not competing but came to support their peers."
Savannah Ming finished second in the women's 60m dash final (7.86). On the men's side in the 60m dash,
Mac Pursell (7.31) and Will Skinner (7.44) both competed in the prelim round.
Gracie Shannon (2:23.86) won an all-Drake field in the women's 800m comprised of Shannon,
Meghan Coulter (2:30.04) and
Vanessa Lee (2:35.49).
Enzo Marie (4:12.09) and
Seth Simonson (4:12.41) paced a total of eight Bulldog runners in the men's mile.
Sam Sturtzer (51.34) and
Deylin Chandler (52.17) finished 10
th and 12
th respectively in the men's 400m.
In the men's shot put,
Adam Phillips took third with a toss of 51-7 while
Cooper Cerese finished sixth (50-0).
Drake track & field does not have another meet on the schedule until the Graduate Classic in Lincoln, Neb., Jan. 13-14.
